“Apavarga” means to be liberated from the mortal plane of existence, and we aim to liberate our students from these shackles, and empower them to make the most of the opportunities available to them, as well as seek new ones.
Our History, Methods & Plans
We first started back in December of 2020 with weekly classes conducted at no cost to any student who was interested. Since we were all relatively new to initiatives like this, we chose to initially restrict our scope to our college alone.

Our classes deviate from a lecture-like structure and focus on building a comfortable, judgement-free environment, ideal for expressing ideas.

These interactive sessions act as an open forum for JAMs, debates and more, building conversational and public speaking skills.

Mentoring by fellow college students creates a unique opportunity to relate and fraternize with students in a way that normal teachers cannot.​

What is Apavarga Shiksha?At its core, Apavarga Shiksha is a student-first initiative that aims to liberate its students from all barriers to learning, such as lack of prior coding experience and a weak grasp over the English Language, regardless of reason. All our services are designed with absolute beginners in mind and are priced very affordably, with the goal of providing our students with in-demand skills and professional competency in their chosen subject.

How much does we charge?The first batch of students were taught absolutely free of cost. The upcoming batches will be charged a meagre Rs. 300/month for Programming in C or Python, Rs. 250/month for English and Rs. 500/month if they enrol in both courses.

How will live classes be conducted?At least 2 live classes including a doubt-clearing session will be conducted every week. Student interaction and progress checking will be done through skill checks and projects administered via Google Classroom. Competitive spirit and networking will be promoted with events and contests every month. WhatsApp groups will allow students to constantly be in touch with mentors, learn from and motivate each-other.

Who can register and how?Currently we are only accepting students from within our college, i.e., Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM), Kolkata. However, we have a 3-phase plan to expand to all colleges in Kolkata, then West Bengal, and eventually, other states.

What are our future plans?We plans to eventually expand to the whole country in a staggered, phase-wise fashion. We will start with IEM’s neighbouring colleges, then other colleges in Kolkata, then the whole state and finally, other states. This growth will be supported by our increasing capital, reputation and an extensive online marketing campaign.
